The new Pinnacle Project for One Yonge is promising some new groundbreaking, for Toronto at least, design features to make the complex more pedestrian friendly than previous Pinnalce Developments. One of these features is a new urban/sidewalk-roadway in which cars and people will share and which cars will travel at a pedestrian speed. Apparently this is how things are done in Europe, and Toronto trying to follow the trendsetters, is willing to give this format a try here and see how it hold up. There was a story not to long ago regarding it in one of the local newspapers and if I am correct the quote was something like this:

New One Yonge will create a true pedestrian pathway from the core to harbourfront. Also there will be new roads which will travel through the community in which the cars will be regulated to travel at a human speed, in addition to giving pedestrians priority access.
